The Beautiful Trails of Bukit Delima, Gelugor

The Elusive Elephant Rock

With 2 hours to kill on a hot late afternoon, I chose to head off to explore the vicinity of Bukit Delima. Bukit Delima is one of the many peaks dotting the hilly range running from Bukit Jambul (to the south) to Lebuhraya Thean Teik (to the north). It is one of my favourite green lung as one can spend hours getting “lost” in this area. Trails are wilder, criss crossing haphazardly (at least no order that I yet spot) and mostly devoid of soul, especially when you avoid the popular peaks (ie Bukit Hijau, Bukit Jambul, etc).

Trailhead located at Cangkat Delima 3

Trails are mostly marked (too many markings actually, both paint based and paper ones ) but I’ve yet to make sense of it. Instead when I’m here, what I usually do is to just randomly pick one and follow. Picked a paper trail dropped by FTAC this round, simply because it looked fresher.

Trail starts behind this community temple located at Island Glades
The view opens up almost as soon as you enter the trail.
Red, orange, yellow, blue. I’ve yet to decipher the differences. To be honest, not making any effort as not knowing is part of the fun.
More signs – JK, JL. What does it stand for.
Some wild vines flowering.
A rotting fallen trunk is a perfect spot for these shrooms
Pretty orange wild flowers littering the grounds.
One of many paper markers. Where does it go? Only way to find out is to follow
“All mine”. When I saw this, I felt that the tree was attempting to greedily grab the rocks forming the retaining wall. The wall was part of a section holding up this level of the terraced grounds (signs of previous cultivation).
